Bulk user creation allows you to create multiple users at once from the Natterbox App using a set of predetermine configuration determined using templates of your own design.
Bulk User Demo
What is a template?
A template a set of configuration that you want to apply to a group of users, i.e. what PBX groups, permission level do you want to assign them.
How to create a template
- From the Natterbox App navigate to User Templates
- Click New
- Populate your Template
- Click Save
Now you have a template of configuration which you can use to bulk create users
How to add users to a template
- Edit your Template
- Click Add Users
- Either upload a CSV file (see below) or search for your Users in Salesforce and tick them in order to associate them with the template
- Click Add Selected
Now you have a template with users ready to be created.
Adding users using a CSV file
The CSV file needs to follow the following format in order to be correctly processed:
Salesforce Username | User extension | FirstName | LastName |
Once you have your CSV file ready, click Upload from a CSV File then upload your file
Scroll down and confirm that the users have been successfully added, then once you're happy with the results Click Add Selected
Note: if for whatever reason your users failed to be uploaded, you will have the ability to export an error log to see what users failed to upload and why using the option Export Errors (i.e. a user doesn't already exist as a Salesforce)
How to bulk create users
Note, before bulk creating users you need to ensure your Account has enough Licenses to assign users as well as enough allowed amount of users, please work with Natterbox to ensure these are available.
Once you have a template with a set of associated users (see above) now all you need to do is click into the chosen Template and click Create Users.
Note: if the Create Users option appears greyed out, that means there are no new users associated with the template that need to created, so ensure you have successfully added all the users to the template.
Once you hit Create Users this will initiate the bulk creation job, please be aware that this can take time.
How to see the status of the user creation
Once a job has been initiated, you see the status of the individual users that are being created as part of the job.
On the template itself it will keep track of the amount of successfully created and outstanding users, underneath the section calledProcessed Record Information
Underneath you will also be able to see the records of all the users yet to be processed
If you wish to see the exact status of each of the users being processed, as well as seeing if there are any other users being processed from other templates click View Log.
From this page you will see the status records of ALL users being generated from every template, from here you can see whether the user creation has passed or failed for each user as well as see the users still waiting to be created.
Bulk User FAQs
What is the maximum number of users I can add in one go?
Up to 2000 users can be processed in one go, please bear in mind that this can take up to 7 hours in order to fully complete.
Does bulk upload also create the Salesforce users?
No, bulk user creation relies on the Salesforce users already being present.
Does bulk upload allow me to mass delete users too?
No, mass user deletion is earmarked for future support.
How long does it take to add 500 users?
It will take roughly up to 1 hour to process 500 users.
Can I create a template of configuration from the config of an existing user?
No, but you can clone existing templates and tweak the configuration.
Why is the option to create users greyed out?
There are three reasons for this:
- No users have been assigned to the template
- There are no new users which are awaiting creation
- The job has already been kicked off and is awaiting completion (check the status logs of the users to see the users yet to be processed)
