Messaging User Setup

User setup is around two key areas, having an SMS capable phone number assigned to the user and having an SMS licence.

Phone Number capability

When moving into the world of digital channels Phone numbers can have different capabilities outside of just voice. These can be SMS or MMS capabilities, or other digital channels which Natterbox is looking to onboard in the future. It's also possible that a phone number can only be capable of SMS and not voice. The way this is managed in Natterbox is by having a capability flag on each phone number which can be found under the Phone Number record, in this scenario we are focused on the SMS capable flag. 

Phone Number Capability Syncing

Providing your phone number has been provisioned with the correct channels you should be able to sync the capabilities on any existing number or sync any newly added numbers into your Natterbox setup. These capabilities are subject to local regulations depending on the channel type and the country of origin for the phone number. To sync the phone numbers you can do the following:

1. Go to the Phone Numbers tab

2. Click the Sync button 

   1. If updating an existing phone number this will update the existing phone number with any new capabilities or any capabilities it does not have anymore

   2. If adding a new phone number this will be added with the capabilities it has been configured for

Assigning a Phone Number to a User

1. Go to the Phone Numbers tab

2. Search and Click the Phone Number you wish to assign - ensure this phone number has the correct capabilities for it's purpose. For example, it has SMS Capable ticked

3. Click Edit

4. Under Natterbox User search for the User you wish to add

5. Click Save

User Licence Setup

Providing a User has a capable phone number for the digital channel they wish to use they will also need the correct licence to view the Natterbox Messaging app. In this scenario for SMS they will need the "Personalised SMS" licence.

User Licence

1. Go to the Natterbox Users tab

2. Click Manage Licences

3.  Tick the Personalised SMS licence against the User you wish to assign the licence to

4. Click Save
