Article summary

Regulations laid out by the Chinese Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) mean that calls to China risk being blocked for a number of reasons.

The rules laid out by MIIT are as follows:

  • Calls must be greater than 3 minutes in duration
  • Unsolicited marketing calls are not allowed
  • Repeat calls from the same number in a rolling hour are not allowed
  • Calls from invalid, modified and spoofed numbers as well as those from restricted origination are not allowed
  • Calls to China cannot be made using a Chinese number

Non-adherence to these rules will result in calls being blocked without notice, though conversely it is not possible to guarantee that adherence to them will necessarily guarantee their success.

Please note that the monitoring process is conducted by MIIT and therefore means that Natterbox is unable to control which traffic passes through successfully or is blocked.
