This article outlines how to resolve the telephony connection error encountered by users within Salesforce Service Cloud Voice. It applies to administrators managing users who are unable to connect to their softphone due to permission mismatches. Following these steps will restore standard telephony functionality.

Problem

Users receive a "Couldn't Connect to Telephony(6001)" error banner in Salesforce when attempting to connect to their phone system, which prevents them from making or receiving calls.

The error banner displays a red warning icon with the text: Couldn't Connect to Telephony(6001). We couldn't load the Voice connector. You're not listed as a contact center user, or there's no Salesforce Voice channel. Ask your Salesforce admin for help with code E-6001.

Resolution

  1. Navigate to Salesforce Setup.

  2. In the Quick Find box, search for and select Users.

  3. Click on the name of the affected user.

  4. Scroll down to the Permission Set Assignments section and click Edit Assignments.

  5. Locate and select the required Service Cloud Voice permission set (such as Contact Center Agent or Contact Center Admin).

  6. Add it to the Enabled Permission Sets list, then click Save.

Please note: the user will need the Salesforce Voice User (Partner Telephony) as well

  7. Instruct the user to log out of Salesforce, clear their browser cache, and log back in to verify that the telephony connection is successfully established.
