How to install the Natterbox Freedom Oauth app

Why install the Natterbox Freedom Oauth app?

Starting in September 2025, Salesforce restricted the use of uninstalled Connected Apps to improve security, requiring that all OAuth-enabled apps be explicitly installed in the org.

If you are using the Natterbox wallboards via the read-only link, you will login using Salesforce to ‘Flightdeck’. If you are getting error messages when trying to login, you might need to check if the steps below have been completed.

Here are some examples of the error messages:

We can't authorize you because of an OAuth error. For more information, contact your Salesforce administrator. OAUTH_APPROVAL_ERROR_GENERIC: An unexpected error occurred during authentication. Please try again.

Setting Up Natterbox Freedom Connected App

This article provides a step-by-step guide to install and configure the Natterbox Freedom connected app in your system. Follow these instructions carefully to ensure proper setup.

Installation Steps

1. Go to Setup.

2. In the top-left search bar, search for Connected Apps OAuth Usage and click on the link that appears.

   

3. In the window that opens, find the row containing the Natterbox Freedom connected app.

4. On the right side of the row, click Install.

   

Configuring OAuth Policies

Once the Natterbox Freedom app is installed, you must configure the OAuth policies to allow user access.

1. After installation, click Edit Policies, then click Edit.

2. In the OAuth Policies section, do the following:

   • Set Permitted Users to All users may self-authorize.

   • Change IP Relaxation from Enforce IP restrictions to Relax IP restrictions.

     

3. Click Save to apply the changes.

By following these steps, you will successfully install and configure the Natterbox Freedom connected app, allowing all users to self-authorize with relaxed IP restrictions.
